컴퓨터공학전공 김영준 교수, 아시아그래픽스 협회 부회장 선출

엘텍공과대학 컴퓨터공학전공 김영준 교수가 6월 20일(화) 아시아그래픽스(Asiagraphics) 협회의 부회장으로 선출됐다. 김 교수는 앞으로 2년 간 아시아그래픽스 협회 부회장으로 협회 운영의 주도적 역할을 할 예정이다.
2015년에 창립된 아시아그래픽스(AG)는 아시아 지역의 컴퓨터그래픽스(Computer Graphics)와 상호작용 기술(Interactive Technology) 연구 단체들의 소통과 협력을 위한 전문 기관이며, 전 세계의 컴퓨터그래픽스 분야 연구자들을 대상으로 하는 비영리 단체이다. 아시아그래픽스 협회의 정식 명칭은 '아시아 컴퓨터그래픽스 및 상호작용 기술 협회'이다. 본 협회는 아시아 지역 컴퓨터그래픽스 연구자들 간의 협력 플랫폼을 제공하고, 학문적 활동 조직화 및 다른 협회들과의 혜택 조정 및 교류, 최신 연구 결과의 보급과 우수한 공헌을 한 연구자들의 인정을 통해 컴퓨터그래픽스 분야의 발전을 촉진하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 아시아그래픽스 협회의 주력 국제학술대회이며 컴퓨터그래픽스 분야 대표 국제학회 중 하나인 '퍼시픽 그래픽스(Pacific Graphics)'가 2014년 본교에서 개최된 바 있다.
김 교수는 현재 사단법인 한국컴퓨터그래픽스학회 회장직을 맡고 있으며, 오는 7월 11(화)~14일(금) 제주에서 진행되는 '한국컴퓨터그래픽스학회 정기학술대회'에서 학회 창립 30주년을 기념해 "30 years of CG innovation: modeling the past, animating the present and rendering the future"을 주제로 기념식을 진행할 예정이다. 김 교수는 현재 본교 컴퓨터그래픽스·가상현실연구센터장, 시뮬레이션 기반 융복합 콘텐츠 연구센터장 및 과학기술정보통신부 지정 대학ICT연구센터(ITRC)장을 맡고 있다.

Professor Young J. Kim from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at ELTEC College of Engineering has been elected as a Vice President of the Asiagraphics Association on June 20th. Professor Kim, in his capacity as Vice President, will provide support and guidance in the main operation of Asiagraphics for the next two years.
Founded in 2015, Asiagraphics (AG) stands as a specialized institution fostering communication and collaboration among research entities focused on Computer Graphics and Interactive Technology in the Asian region. As a nonprofit organization, Asiagraphics aims to serve researchers in the field of computer graphics worldwide, offering a platform for cooperation among Asian computer graphics researchers, organizing scholarly activities, coordinating benefits and exchanges with other associations, facilitating the dissemination of cutting-edge research findings, and recognizing exemplary contributions to the advancement of computer graphics. Pacific Graphics serves as the premier international conference organized by the Asia Graphics Association (AG), and it was hosted by Ewha University in 2014.
Currently, Professor Kim holds the position of President at the Korean Computer Graphics Society. Coinciding with the commemoration of its 30th anniversary, the Korean Computer Graphics Society will conduct its annual academic conference, titled "30 years of CG innovation: modeling the past, animating the present and rendering the future," scheduled to take place in Jeju from July 11th to July 14th. Professor Kim currently assumes the roles of Director at the Computer Graphics and Virtual Reality Research Center, the Simulation-Based Contents Convergence Research Center, and the ICT Research Center (ITRC), a designation bestowed by the Ministry of Science and ICT.
