The Ewha Global Institute for Sustainable Partnership and Empowerment (EGISE), led by Director Eun-Hee Ha, held the closing ceremony for the 2nd Green for All (G4A) Supporters on August 24 (Monday) at Room B142 of the Ewha Campus Complex (ECC). The closing ceremony was held to conclude the activities of the 2nd G4A Supporters, who spent the past four months promoting the values of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)* and advancing sustainability across campus, and to share their major achievements and experiences.
The event began with welcoming remarks by Associate Director Park JiHyun (Department of Architecture) and congratulatory remarks by Director Ha EunHee (Department of Medicine), followed by △a report on the activities of the 2nd G4A Supporters △awards and presentations by outstanding activity teams △the presentation of certificates of completion and sharing of reflections on the activities △a group photo.
The Green for All (G4A) Supporters is a student participation program operated by EGISE to share the values of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with members of the Ewha community and expand student participation in ESG and sustainability activities. Students from diverse academic backgrounds form teams centered on the SDGs to develop ideas for a sustainable campus and society and engage in various activities, including team projects and content production.
A total of 83 students participated in the 2nd cohort, forming 17 teams. During the program, each team explored sustainable development agendas from a student perspective through promotional content production, SDGs team projects, and other activities, and shared the results with members of the Ewha community. In particular, based on areas of interest linked to each of the SDGs, the teams proposed ideas that could be put into practice at the university and in everyday life, connecting the values of sustainable development to concrete action.
In her welcoming remarks, Associate Director Park Jihyun expressed her appreciation and encouragement to the supporters who had done their best in their respective positions throughout the program. "I would like to thank the students for their efforts in thinking about and actively participating in building a sustainable Ewha while balancing their studies with various activities," said Associate Director Park. "I hope that the experience of thinking and collaborating together through this program will serve as a valuable foundation for putting sustainability into practice in each of your respective fields in the future."
Director Ha Eunhee highly praised the creative ideas and active participation demonstrated by the 2nd G4A cohort. "Each of the ideas proposed through this program showed me how deeply the students are thinking about a sustainable society and the future of Ewha," said Director Ha. "The students' fresh perspectives and ideas will become an important driving force for further advancing Ewha's sustainability and expanding the participation of members of the university community." She continued, "I hope that, based on your experience at G4A of thinking through issues yourselves, developing ideas into concrete forms, and putting them into practice together, you will grow into talented individuals who create positive change in society in the future."
The closing ceremony also featured a presentation of the major achievements of the 2nd G4A cohort and awards for outstanding activity teams. The Grand Prize went to the G4A SDGs 6 team ( Ryu JooYoung, Department of Environmental Engineering; Lee Dayeon, Department of Cyber Security; Lee Yeonsoo, Department of Environmental Engineering; Jeong Haein, Department of Environmental Engineering; JIN KUNYING, Department of Life Science), while the Excellence Award went to the G4A SDGs 17 team (Jeong YuJin, Division of English Language and Literature; Ko Minji, Department of Environmental Engineering; Jin Jimin, Department of French Language and Literature; Lee Yunseo, Scranton College).
In the team project category, Excellence Awards were given to the G4A SDGs 7 team (Choi Yujeong, Division of English Language and Literature; Gu Bitna, Department of Chemical and New Materials Engineering; Kim Kyungmin, Department of Architecture and Urban Systems Engineering; Kim Eunji, Department of Science Education; Park Sohyun Park, Department of Environmental Engineering; Choi Jiwon, Department of Environmental Engineering), the G4A SDGs 8 team (Lee Narim, Division of Business Administration; Kim Sihyun, Department of Statistics; Myeong Jiwoo, Department of Business Administration; Min Habyeol, Department of History; Oh Harim, Department of Instrumental Music), and the G4A SDGs 12 team (Lee Juhyun, Department of Chinese Language and Literature; Gu Nahyun, Division of English Language and Literature; Kim Jihu, College of Scranton; Han Hyeju, Department of Statistics; BAI ENHUI, Division of Communication and Media).
In the promotional content category, Excellence Awards were given to the G4A SDGs 2 team (Kim Suyeon, Department of Consumer Studies; Lee Sujin, Department of Climate and Energy Systems Engineering; Lee Chaeeun, Department of Environmental Engineering; JIN JINGYA, Department of Korean Language and Literature) and the G4A SDGs 14 team (Lee Doeun Lee, College of Scranton; Kim Yubin, Department of Environmental Engineering; Noh Yunha, Department of Science Education; Park Hyunji, Department of Environmental Engineering; Lim Seobin, Department of Environmental Engineering).
EGISE will continue to increase members' understanding of and participation in the Sustainable Development Goals through various student participation programs, including the G4A Supporters, and support students in turning their creative ideas into sustainability initiatives at the university.
*The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of goals pursued collectively by the international community to create a sustainable human society and environment. Adopted by consensus among 193 UN Member States at the 70th session of the UN General Assembly in 2015, the SDGs consist of 17 goals and 169 targets covering social, environmental, and economic areas, including poverty, health, education, gender equality, climate change, energy, and sustainable production and consumption. They aim to be achieved by 2030.
