photoProf. Yang Sook Ja’s team from Global Health and Nursing at the College of Health Sciences was selected as a research team of the Empowering Capacity Program for Universities in Developing Countries led by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), and will take steps to improve the capacity of the nursing teaching staff in Cambodia.
The team will receive 600 million won in funds from January 2015 to December 2016 to operate an Ewha-UHS bachelor’s degree program for professors at the Nursing College of University of Health Sciences in Cambodia (UHS). This program will include teaching staff at local nursing colleges as well as UHS to deliver Ewha’s nursing education curriculum across Cambodia.
So far, Ewha has established a master’s course in social welfare at the Royal University of Phnom Penh and Ewha Social Services in Cambodia. Moreover, Ewha has been striving to expand official development assistance in basic and higher education, as well as pursue a project to build the Cambodia Development Research Institution. As Ewha’s research team was selected for the program, the university is expected to expand its reach for international development and cooperation throughout Cambodia.
