Erei Yoon, a Senior Researcher at the Institute for Biomedical Law & Ethics, Won the 2023 Young Bioethicist Award

Erei Yoon, a senior researcher at the Ewha Womans University Institute for Biomedical Law & Ethics won the Young Bioethicist Award at the Joint Meeting of the National Bioethics Committee and the Korea Bioethics Association on December 8th (Fri). The award is given to an outstanding paper that contributed to the bioethics studies by the Korea Bioethics Association, which has played a vital role in facilitating various interdisciplinary discourses on bioethics.
The award was given to Yoon’s paper titled “Significance and Future Tasks of Establishing Legal Standards for Advanced Regenerative Medicine: Focusing on the Advanced Regenerative Medicine Clinical Research”(Bio, Ethics and Policy, the journal of the Korea National Institute for Bioethics Policy, Vol. 6, 2nd ed.). The paper reviews the significance of the advanced regenerative medicine clinical research policy, which was introduced under the Act On The Safety Of And Support For Advanced Regenerative Medicine And Advanced Biological Products in 2019, and discusses improvements to be made in the law in consideration of the approvals of the advanced regenerative medicine clinical research plans and consents of the participants. Erei Yoon gained her doctorate at Ewha Womans University and has been working on various research on regenerative medicine, bioethics and ELSI, and many more at the Ewha Womans University Institute for Biomedical Law & Ethics. She is also a member of the Institutional Review Board (IRB).
