Campus Town Project Team Held Youth Station 2023 Festival at Sinchon Boxquare

To facilitate lifestyle business by youth, Ewha Campus Town Project Team, College of Science & Industry Convergence, College of Art & Design, Youth Kiwoom Restaurant, and Seodaemun District Office Collaborated


Ewha Womans University and Seodaemun district held the Youth Station 2023 Festival at Sinchon Boxquare on September 21st (Thu). Sinchon Boxquare is a place for lifestyle businesses by youth made by Ewha Campus Town Project Team (Director: Kyung-Shik Shin). The festival was planned and organized in collaboration of  Seodaemun District Office, College of Science & Industry Convergence (Dean: Hyekyeong Kim), students at College of Art & Design (Dean: Gyeong-Sil Choi), Youth Kiwoom Restaurant (Supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and Korea Agro-Fisheries Trade Corporation), Ewha Campus Town Project Team for the goal of sustainable development through win-win cooperation between university and local community.

Honorary Seoul Mayor Juhyeon Lee, a senior majoring in political science and international relations at Ewha Womans University, marked the beginning of the festival, on which academia, industry, and public sector collaborated to facilitate lifestyle businesses by youth that realize ESG values.


At Sanhak, Gongyu, Dream, Changjak, and Mirae Boxes – coworking spaces for collaborative projects with the local community – were Youth Market and Youth Shelf, booths of organizations like Seoul Takju Association, Hurom, and Hello Museum. The opening ceremony of the Seoul Korean Wine pop-up store and signing ceremony of the MOU between the Regional Collaboration Center (Director: Sang-Joon Kim) and Seoul Takju Association (President: Jang Jae-joon Jang) took place at Sanhak Box.

At Youth Yard, located in the middle of Boxquare, various cultural programs took place, making the festival more colorful: dance performance by Action, a dance crew at Ewha Womans University; Visible Radio, a session which youth and local business owners candidly share their experiences as entrepreneurs; performances by Beautiful Mind (integrative orchestra for musicians with special needs) and Ewha Celli (a group of students majoring in cello at Ewha Womans University), musical clubs led by Professor Il-Hwan Bai at Ewha Womans University; a wind quintet performance; a singer-songwriter Jina Lee’s performance about youth.  


There were also many things to watch, eat, and enjoy at Sinchon Boxquare, such as a fiber art exhibition by College of Art & Design, film screening events, and workshops with Youth Kiwoom Restaurant. "This festival is a symbolic model of win-win collaboration in Seodaemun district where there are a lot of universities, especially the one between Sinchon area and Ewha Womans University. I hope this will be a start of cooperation between many more organizations that will contribute to the development of the local community,” said Seongheon Lee, the Head of Seodaemun district. Kyung-Shik Shin, the Executive Vice President for External Affairs and Director of Ewha Campus Town Project Team emphasized that “Sinchon Boxquare is an important platform for nurturing future talents for the local community and continued cooperation needs to be go on here at Campus Town Venue.” Campus Town Project will continue at Sinchon Boxquare, and many more programs for business incubation in various fields, such as food service, as well as academic-industry cooperation with diverse companies, will be developed and carried out. At Mirae Box, a program suggesting visions about a new lifestyle culture based on AI technology will take place and continue the win-win collaboration with the local community.
