Professor Hee-dong Yang of the Department of Business Administration, elected president of The Korea Society of Manageme

Professor Hee-dong Yang of the Department of Business Administration is elected president of The Korea Society of Management Information Systems (KMIS) for 2022.


The KMIS, established in November 1989, is an incorporated association under the Ministry of Information and Communication. It has promoted the research development of business management information. About 4,000 experts from various fields - business administration, business science, behavioral science, cognitive psychology, computer science, information engineering, telecommunications engineering, and industrial engineering - have been participated and led the field by adopting the latest information and communication technology. It has published several journals such as ‘Asia Pacific Journal of Information Systems’ and ‘Information Systems Review.’ Its subcommittees include ‘ERP Research Society’, ‘e-Biz Research Society’, ‘SEM Research Society’, ‘Service Science Research Society’, and ‘AIS Korean Chapter (KrAIS Research Society),’ ‘MIS Education Research Society’. The president’s term of office is one year.


Professor Yang graduated from the Department of Business Administration at Seoul National University and finished his master's degree at the same school. After that, he acquired a Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University in the United States. Professor Yang, an expert in MIS and e-commerce, has been conducting several studies on corporate information with new technologies such as Blockchain, Cloud, and Big Data. 


Since taking office at Ewha, Professor Yang has served as the chairman of the Information Service Promotion Committee, the director of the Ewha Management Research Center, and the dean of the Ewha school of Business. He has also served as vice president and director of the Korea Society of Management Information Systems(KMIS), editor of a journal ’Korean management review’, and director of the Knowledge Management Society of Korea. In 2012, he received the award certificate from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism and served as the 14th president of the Knowledge Management Society of Korea(KMSK).
