FRIC(The Foreign Research Information Center), operated by Ewha University Library (Director: Professor Mi-Kyeong Cha), received the highest score in the business evaluation conducted in October this year, earning the best rate (rate S) for five consecutive years.

From November 2019 to October 2020, the Ministry of Education and the KERIS (Korea Education and Research Information Service) conducted an assessment on 10 FRICs. Standards for valuation were as following: operational strategies, performance evaluation, and year-on-year improvement. The Ewha FRIC received excellent evaluations in all areas, including its outcome on providing original copy of foreign research materials and the number of academic journals it offers.

FRIC is a national project that aims to reduce budgets of subscribing to foreign academic journals by sharing them. It contributes to establishing a system for collecting, preserving, sharing, and utilizing foreign academic journals and provides domestic researchers with full free copy service of original journals.

Since 2011, Ewha FRIC has been in charge of fields of education, social and arts, and has provided 2,511 relevant academic journals, including 794 new journals in the fields. In particular, it has secured 1,933 kinds of outstanding journals and 1,327 rare journals. It helps to make more foreign academic resources available at the national level and greatly helps university libraries by reducing the burden of subscription fees. The center has fulfilled its social responsibilities of sharing knowledge, working with local libraries and relevant specialized institutions.

Details regarding the free copy service of the center can be found on the website (http://fric.ewha.ac.kr). The service is available not only for students at Ewha but also for graduates and general researchers.
