The opening ceremony of Mapo-gu Center for Children's Food Service Management (Director: Professor Jieun Oh, the College of Science & Industry Convergence) took place on October 27. The Center is supported by Mapo-gu, (Executive Officer: Dong-Gyun Yop) and commissioned, and Ewha Womans University operates the Center as consign management. Following the opening of Seodaemun-gu Center in 2019 and Yeongdeungpo-gu Center in July 2020, Ewha currently operates three centers for children's food service management in southwestern Seoul.

The opening ceremony was attended by 15 people, including Sang-Chul Oh, head of Mapo-gu Health Center, and Na Young Hong, Dean of the College of Science and Industry at Ewha. The event was held in the order of introduction of guests, reporting of business operations and plans, and a commemorative photograph.

Mapo-gu Center for Children's Food Service Management was established in September 2020 to enhance hygiene and nutrition management of children's food service centers without nutritionists. A total of seven professionals (one for the director, one for the team leader, and five team members) manage small children's food service centers in daycare centers or kindergartens in Mapo-gu.

To provide healthy food for children in Mapo-gu, the Center provides on-site tour guidance of hygiene and nutrition management. The Center also develops and publicize standard diets and recipe for each growth stage of children. In addition, the Center will carry out multiple educational programs for various targets, including children, directors, and cooks.

Sang-Chul Oh, head of Mapo-gu Health Center, said, "We will actively support the Center to be the best hygiene and nutrition management institution for children’s health and growth. Children are the future of Mapo-gu." Jieun Oh, the director of the Center, said, "We will spare no effort  to provide customized support for each school cafeteria by actively paying attention to the opinions of children and institutions in order to provide balanced nutrition, form children’s proper eating habits, and create a safe and healthy meal environment for children in Mapo-gu."
