The College of Artificial Intelligence (Dean Park Hyun-seok) hosted the Human-Centered AI (HAI) Forum on July 1 (Monday) in ECC Room B137.

This event marked the first step in discussing the establishment of an AI-related research institute at Ewha. James Landay, the Deputy Director of Stanford University's Human-Centered AI Institute (HAI), was invited to participate in a panel discussion and provide advice on the establishment and operation of the HAI institute.

James Landay is a co-founder of HAI which leads the interdisciplinary research in the AI field, and a leading expert in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) as a professor of Computer Science at Stanford University. The HAI Institute aims to predict and address potential problems arising from advanced technologies through interdisciplinary research and approaches. Established in 2019, it focuses on how AI can be used beneficially across society.

After the panel discussion, President Kim Eun-mi emphasized by saying, “AI technology will become essential in various areas in the near future. Therefore, we need AI education and interdisciplinary collaboration across various fields. In particular, Ewha’s role is crucial in achieving gender equality in generative AI technology. We look forward to cooperating with Standford HAI.” Dean Park Hyun-seok added, "This forum is a significant milestone for Ewha to position itself as a leader in human-centered AI research. It was an invaluable opportunity to clarify the direction of our research through Stanford’s advanced examples. Ewha will continue to lead innovation in AI research and education."
