Min Ji Ju is studying in the doctor’s course of the department of public administration with professor Min Ah Kang as academic adviser. She has been awarded ‘The Meier PMRC Travel Inclusion Award’ at the <Public Management Research Conference(PMRC) 2023>, opened at Netherland’s Utrecht University on June 27th~30th. This award contributes to expanding the diversity of PMRC thesis publishers and is given every year to doctor’s course students with excellent research abilities. This year, expanding from African American, Hispanic/Latin American, and Asian American students in the USA, a total of 16 students with a broader geographical representative were chosen as winners. Out of them, Min Ji Ju was the only graduate school student awarded from the Asia district.
The thesis Min Ji Ju published in PMRC is 「Community disaster resilience under infectious disease outbreaks: A study on the COVID-19 pandemic in South Korea using grounded theory」. Ewha professor Seung Hyuk Lee from the department of public administration is co-author, and professor Min Ah Kang participated as corresponding author.
The PMRC is a representative academic society in the public administration area, sponsored by the Public Management Research Association(PMRA). The PMRA publishes one of the most characteristic academic journal, <The Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory (JPART)>. The selection of Min Ji Ju’s thesis is meaningful in the sense that the research topic’s timeliness and importance was proven.
