The Foreign Research Information Center (FRIC) operated by Ewha Central Library (Director: Eunkyung Chung) has received the top (S) grade for eight consecutive years on a project evaluation in April.
From July 2022 to April 2023, ten FRICs managed by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Education Research Information Service were evaluated quantitatively and qualitatively under four indicators: operational strategies, operational system, operation outcome, and year-on-year improvement. The FRIC at Ewha Womans University was well-evaluated on performance figures of document delivery service and securing journals of assigned sections.
As a national project, FRICs contribute to saving money for subscribing to foreign journals through a cooperative acquisition that builds a system for interlibrary collection, preservation, and utilization of foreign journals for reducing overlapping subscriptions of foreign academic journals by university libraries and offer free document delivery service to researchers in Korea.
Ewha FRIC has been designated as a center for education, social studies, and art journals since 2011, providing 2,513 core journals including 538 new journals of such fields Notably, Ewha FRIC provides 1,865 good journals that are covered by Web of Science and Scopus, and 1,324 journals of such fields that are available in a very small number of libraries in Korea. This broadens the range of available academic resources at a national level and contributes significantly to lifting the burden of the subscription overlaps in Korean university libraries. Ewha FRIC also cooperates with regional representative libraries and relevant institutions to practice the university’s social responsibility through knowledge-sharing.
You can see how to use the free document delivery service via FRIC and the list of journals provided by FRIC on the Center’s website (http://fric.ewha.ac.kr). Everyone – not only current students at Ewha Womans University but graduated students and any researchers – can register for the free document delivery service on the Library or RISS websites.
