Ewha Womans University received a donation of KRW 100 million for the Ewha New Era Fund from Lee Myung Kyung, president of the Ewha Alumnae Association (Dance, graduating class of 1977).
Lee Myung Kyung graduated from the Department of Dance at Ewha Womans University and earned a master’s degree in the same field, as well as another master’s degree from the Graduate School of Theology. She also completed the Ewha Advanced Leadership Program Society (ALPS), maintaining a long-standing connection with the university. Since March 2023, she has served as the 19th President of the Ewha Alumnae Association, promoting community among 270,000 alumnae while dedicating herself to the university’s development.
The donation ceremony held on February 3 at the university’s Pfeiffer Hall was attended by Ewha President Hyang-Sook Lee; Jhungsoo Park, Executive Vice President for Research and External Affairs; Yun Jung Choi, Ewha Vice President for University Relations and Development; and Eunyoung Park, Associate Vice President for University Relations and Development, all of whom expressed their appreciation to Lee Myung Kyung.

At the ceremony, President Hyang-Sook Lee said, “As president, I am keenly reminded every day of how much the alumnae association serves as a strong support and a firm pillar for Ewha.” She added, “I express my deep gratitude for Lee Myung Kyung’s dedication and efforts in leading the association as the central force bringing together 270,000 Ewha alumnae.”
President Lee continued, “It’s all the more meaningful that Lee Myung Kyung has made such a remarkable contribution to the university’s development amid her many public responsibilities. It is the unwavering love and support of our alumnae that enables Ewha to continue moving forward.”
In response, Lee Myung Kyung said, “What I learned at Ewha has been a tremendous source of support over the past 50 years.” She also reflected on her donation: “As an alumna, I believe it is only natural to do my part as Ewha moves into a new era. I will continue to do my utmost, as president of the Ewha Alumnae Association, to strengthen unity and solidarity among alumnae.”
The latest donation to the Ewha New Era Fund will be used for major projects to strengthen the university’s future competitiveness and support its sustainable development. In celebration of its 140th anniversary in 2026, Ewha is seeking to expand its Development Fund and to build a network of sponsors to realize its vision of “New Era, New Ewha.” This includes establishing the Development Support Committee, in line with these efforts, with continued participation from alumnae.
