Ewha hosted the 2022 Fall Commencement Ceremony at Welch-Ryang Auditorium at 10 a.m. on August 25, 2023 (Fri.). A total of 1,998 graduating students participated, with 1,016 receiving a bachelor’s degree, 865 receiving a master’s degree, and 117 receiving a doctoral degree.

“From the starting point of Ewha’s long history of 137 years to this present era of historical transformation, Ewha has built a legacy of creativity and innovation to lead and change the times, with each member of Ewha inheriting these values of creative and innovative education,” remarked President Eun Mee Kim in a message to the graduating students. “I hope you will all keep close to your hearts our calling to build a sustainable society and spread Ewha’s own capability and unique culture of ‘E-Culture’ across the world.”

At the commencement ceremony, 1,016 undergraduate graduating students proudly wore their graduation caps, including the youngest aged 21 and the oldest aged 51, one student with disabilities and two students of North Korean defector background. In addition, 865 master’s degrees were conferred by 13 graduate schools, along with 117 doctoral degrees from four graduate schools. Meanwhile, a total of 171 international students from countries around the world such as China, Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Uzbekistan and the U.S., including two scholarship recipients from the Ewha Global Partnership Program (EGPP), received their diplomas including 70 bachelor’s degrees and 101 master’s and doctoral degrees. The EGPP under Ewha Womans University was designed to select talented women from developing countries and provide full scholarship and living expenses in a bid to educate and nurture global female talent. The scholarship recipients with outstanding academic performances are expected to be employed in Korea after graduation and make full use of the capabilities they honed at Ewha.
