Ewha Selected as a “Leading University for the Third Phase of the K-MOOC”

The Ministry of Education (MOE) announced on Wednesday, April 12 the selection of Ewha as one of the “leading universities for the third phase of the Korean Massive Open Online Course (K-MOOC).” Just as in the first phase in 2015 and the second phase in 2020, the university was selected for the third phase in recognition of its course development capability and excellent infrastructure.

As one of the fifteen universities selected for the K-MOOC program, Ewha will develop well-crafted lectures with innovative themes and formats in the sections of social sciences, education, law, pharmacy studies, and electricity and electronics over the next three years. The university is expected to play a leading role in promoting credit transfer and exchanges among domestic colleges and expand the global market for education.

K-MOOC 강좌 개발 담당 교수진 및 과목(2023-2025)Starting in 2023, the university will develop twelve lecture programs, including six courses in new industries and innovative technologies. Four courses will be created in the first year (2023) and eight more in the following year (2024).

Ewha developed a total of thirty-five courses as a leading university for the first and second phases of the K-MOOC program. The university has launched and operated course programs through the K-MOOC platform 211 times since 2015, and it has shown outstanding operational performance with many of its courses being awarded commendations from the Minster of Education, winning blue ribbons from K-MOOC, and being selected as excellent courses in the pertinent annual evaluations. In addition, Ewha’s K-MOOC content has been utilized within other universities' curriculums, for faculty job training, and on overseas MOOC platforms, clearly demonstrating its utility.

While participating as a leading university in the third phase for the K-MOOC program, Ewha will not only develop courses for traditional specialized fields such as social science, education, and law, but also for the new industry and technology convergence fields such as pharmacy studies and electricity and electronics, in an effort to foster creative and wise individuals through interdisciplinary interactions.
