2013 A Meeting for New Year’s Greetings

Ewha University held a meeting for 2013 New Year’s Greetings on January 2nd at Lee San-Bong Hall in the ECC building.
More than 700 faculty and staff members, including the President of Ewha Haktang Educational Foundation Myong-Sue Chang, President Emeritus Hoo Jung Yoon and President Sun-Uk Kim gathered to celebrate the beginning of the Year of the Serpent. The head of Office of General Administration, Kyung Won Cho, led the event.
Chang, the President of Ewha Haktang Educational Foundation, said, “the history of Ewha has been like a deep, wide, and everlasting long river that runs with the support of the prayers of leaders and graduates.” She also encouraged attendees to recognize that “the time in which we are living will be seen by future generations as a time that shined, gave glory to God, and moved forward without hesitation or retreating.”
President Kim said, “I think Ewha will once again this year write a reliable and solid history by putting new plans into action.” She encouraged those in attendance, saying “I believe that a positive attitude like ours will turn crisis into opportunity. The attitude is pride and belief that Ewha has the power to cope with difficulties and challenges. It comes from the faith that Ewha has the vision to enter a new era and embrace the new values called for in these times.”
President Kim individually met people at the ceremony, including the 31 students, exchanging new year’s greetings and talking with them. She said, “I am expecting you to work actively as a member of this school for the progress of Ewha,” and told the students, “I hope you concentrate on your studies while you are working at the students’ union, and please ask the school first when you have any problems or requests regarding Ewha.”
