Enjoy Various Global Summer Programs of Ewha!

Ewha provides various summer programs that will help students experience the global world this summer. The summer programs are composed of 'out-bound programs' that send students abroad for various experiences and 'in-bound programs' through which students from around the world visit Ewha to engage in various activities and study.
Out-bound Programs:
'Faculty-Led Program', 'EGI Culture Exploration', and 'Ewha Volunteer Group'
The 'out-bound programs' provide students various activities abroad which consist of taking classes, volunteering, and exploring the foreign culture.
'Faculty-Led Program' is an in-depth academic activity with an objective to learn and experience certain subjects about the country the team is visiting. A professor leads a group of six to ten students abroad and carry research and seminars with the local prominent scholars for 7 to 10 days. This summer, 170 students and 13 professors are participating. 'Social Welfare Policy of Sweden', 'Art in New York', 'Modern Ceramic Art of England', 'Bio-environment and the Culture of Hokkaido Japan' are among the subjects of the 'Faculty-Led Program' this summer.
'EGI', also known as 'Ewha Global Initiative Scholarship Program' is making its third departure this summer. Its intention is to systematically sponsor the next global leaders develop sense of global competitiveness. 36 Ewha students leave for 14 days. 'EGI Europe Team' left on June 28 for 8 cities in 6 countries including Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Swiss, France, and Italy. They will visit major universities, companies, and international organizations and submit reports on politics, cultures, and the society of Europe.
Lastly, 150 Ewha students of the 'Ewha Volunteer Group' will carry out volunteer activities in various places in and out of Korea. The 'Ewha Volunteer Group' will be volunteering in places like Hunchun of China, Chiang Mai of Thailand, and Urgench and Bukhara of Uzbekistan. The volunteering activities include education, construction, and medical support.
In-bound Programs :
'Ewha International Summer School' & 'Ewha-Harvard Summer School'
Through 'Ewha International Summer School' and 'Ewha-Harvard Summer School', Ewha students studied with the foreign students who have come to Ewha from all over the world to learn about Korean society and the culture. Every participant had the chance to have exchange with students from various countries in a little global community in Ewha Summer School.
'Ewha International Summer School' is a summer school program founded 38 years ago, the first of its kind in Korea. It is an international exchange program that enables Ewha students to earn global competitiveness without stepping outside of Korea. Students take lectures of prominent professors of the world in English. This year, 'Ewha International Summer School' provided 200 various lectures in the field of art, economy, media, history, and law. In addition to regular lectures, every weekend, there were extra-curricular activities like temple stay, watching B-boy performance and traditional percussion quartet performance, making Korean food, and learning Taekwondo. 230 students from 12 countries including the U.S, China, England, Canada, Germany, Hongkong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand have come to Ewha.
'Ewha-Harvard Summer School', which initiated in 2006 is a program that students from Harvard and Ewha learn about Korean history and culture together. Ewha is the only university that has exchange partnership for summer school with Harvard University. 30 students including 14 students from Harvard, 11 Ewha students, and 5 students from schools with exchange partnership with Ewha participate the Ewha-Harvard Summer School this year. The theme of the summer school was 'Adventures in Early Korean History and Archaeology'. Mark Byington, the professor of Korea Institute from Harvard is led the program.
