A member of the Standing Committee from China Visited Ewha to Discuss Educational and Cultural Exchange

Li Changchun, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China(CPC) Central Committee, visited Ewha on April 6th during his visit to Korea. He is known to be one of the most influential figures of China.



It is known that Li has aspired education and cultural exchange, and his visit to Ewha was to visit one of the most prestigious universities in Korea. Ewha is unique not only because it is the world's largest women's university but also because it is the only Korean university to have its own 'University Day' at Peking University. In addition, Ewha has various partnerships and exchanges with major universities of China like Tshinghua University, Remin University, and Beijing Normal University.

President Lee Bae-Yong said "Education and culture are keys to enhancing national competency. I believe Ewha, together with China, will contribute to spreading East Asian culture and education to the world" in the welcoming ceremony. Li Changchun replied in his speech, "Korea and China should work together for further development of East Asian culture. We will continue on this great relationship with Ewha for more educational and cultural exchanges."

After the welcoming ceremony, Li Changchun visited and attended Chinese Language and Literature class, 'Introduction of Region Studies‘, and encouraged students to study Chinese harder and gave out 'Chinese Textbooks' as a present.

Li Changchun's visit to Ewha is expected to make a head start that will increase exchange partnerships with Chinese universities.
