U.S. ambassador Kathleen Stephens and Assistant Secretary of US Department of Labor Shinae Chun(Ewha alumnae), president Lee Bae Yong, and Ewha students visited Ewha Archives on October 20. President Lee Bae Yong invited Stephens to Ewha Archives in advance of the 'Ewha-Wellesley Global Leadership Conference' from Oct 21 to 23 to introduce the history and the vision of Ewha. Ewha Archive is a replica of Ewha Haktang, the first Ewha building built in Jeongdong in 1886.

As a woman ambassador, Stephens has interest in the history of Korean women leaders and women leadership. After being introduced the 122 years of Ewha history from president Lee, Stephens said, "I thought I knew well about Ewha Womans University and Korea. However, today I believe I have come to a better understanding of the relationship between Korea and the U.S. by learning about the history of Ewha."

When a student asked Stephens to give a tip on how to become a global woman leader, Stephens said, "I believe it is important to try to look at situations with bigger perspectives. Nothing is more important than drawing a big picture of your life. When confronted by hardship, try to look at yourself and look farther as if you are at thirty thousand feet high."
