Fifteen Ewha Alumni Passed the 32nd Certified Public Labor Attorney Test

Fifteen Ewha Alumni Passed the 32nd Certified Public Labor Attorney (CPLA) test in 2023. The CPLA test is one of the eight professional practitioner tests by the Ministry of Labor and Employment, to select labor-related law experts. The proportion of Ewha alumni among those who passed the CPLA test has been rising steadily: nine Ewha alumni passed the test in 2021, eleven in 2022, and fifteen, the biggest, in 2023.

This year, 395 applicants passed the 32nd CPLA test: People in their twenties (251) accounted for the biggest part of those who passed the test, and more than two-thirds of those who passed (267) were women. The practice of CPLA may begin after passing the final test and attending the training workshop provided by the Korea Certified Public Labor Attorneys Association.


A total of 15 people passed the CPLA test. “Campus life at Ewha motivated me to become a professional practitioner. Classes in humanities, law, and business administration colleges helped me decide to take this test and pass quickly,” said Yeji Park, who passed the test before her graduation in February. “I feel so supported to have so many CPLA alumni in many parts of the society,” said Hyeon-a Cho. “I wish to be a skillful CPLA and help younger Ewha students to become CPLAs,” she said.


CPLA test was introduced to train the professional personnel for smooth management of business and labor relations and reasonable settlement of labor disputes by providing professional knowledge and experience on labor relations and the related laws and regulations. CPLA is considered to have rosy job prospects amid labor issues like the peak wage system, 52-hour workweek system, and the implementation of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act dominate news headlines.
