Professor Tae-Jin Song Won the Minister of Health and Welfare Award

He published 106 SCI-level first-authored articles on stroke and headache and showed outstanding R&D performances in health technology.

Professor Tae-Jin Song at the College of Medicine won the Minister of Health and Welfare Award (Minister: Kyoo-hong Cho) as a representative recipient of the award in the Excellent Research section at the government award ceremony of the Health Industry Networking Conference at EL Tower at Yangjae Station on November 27th (Mon).


The Health Technology Development Award recognizes those who contributed to the development of the health technology industry. The Ministry of Health and Welfare said that Professor Song was selected as a recipient of the award in 2023 for his outstanding R&D performances in health technology and contribution to the development of national health technology.


Professor Tae-Jin Song’s research interests range from stroke patients to AI-based digital diagnosis of motor speech and language disorders, medical device development, and omics big data research. He became a faculty member of Ewha Womans University in 2013 and has dedicated himself to the studies for stroke and headache patients, publishing 106 SCI-level first-authored articles. Professor Song’s first-authored articles were published in many high-impact journals, including Journal of Medical Virology (IF 23.2), Neurology (IF 11.8), Diabetologia (IF 10.4), Journal of Clinical Periodontology (IF 8.7), Journal of Stroke (IF 8.6), and European Journal of Preventive Cardiology (IF 8.3). He also published 28 Special A Level articles as a principal author.


He became the director of the Stroke Center in the Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital, which opened last August. He dedicates himself to cerebrovascular disease treatment, under the mission of "24/7/365 cerebrovascular disease treatment" to secure golden hour, which is critical for the successful treatment of the diseases.


When receiving the award, Professor Song said, "I would like to express my gratitude to my mentors and fellow neurology professors at the hospital. I will work harder to help more stroke and headache patients."
