EK Start-up Conference 2023, co-hosted by Ewha Technology Holdings and Konkuk University Holdings at Amanti Seoul Hotel on November 23rd (Thu), has concluded successfully.
Under the mission of building an ecosystem for open cooperation between academia and industry and re-creating global-level research-based technology values, Ewha Womans University and Konkuk University have carried out the Technology Management Center (TMC) project of the Ministry of Science and ICT, providing various programs for supporting and facilitating growth of their subsidiaries and lab startups.
EK Start-up Conference, first held in 2022, is an event for building an ecosystem for open cooperation between academia and industry and promoting collaboration and networking between two universities. Around sixty guests, including subsidiaries and lab startups of both universities, investment institutions, and venture capitals (VCs), attended the event consisting of a joint IR session, tailored mentoring session, and special lectures.
In the joint IR session, subsidiaries of both universities presented their business models and plans to attract investors and received investor feedback in their conversations with VC analysts, such as venture capital CEOs.
In the mentoring session, seasoned mentors and consultants gave entrepreneurs one-on-one and in-depth advice on financial planning, laws and regulations, tax, and investment. Their insightful advice gave practical help to the participants and contributed to improving the startup ecosystem.
In the special lecture session, CEO Yeongcheol Yu of Kairos Venture Partners, Accountant Jaeyong Lee of Find Us, and CEO Taeil Kwak of Farm Skin provided insightful lectures, titled “Strategies for Startups to Attract Investors,” “How to Make a Successful Financial Plan for My Business,” and “Cases of Subsidiary Startups.” The lectures provided valuable insights to the participants.
The event served as a venue for networking to support and facilitate the growth of startup entrepreneurs: Participants learned practical information and knowledge, and gained opportunities for networking and collaboration. Ewha Womans University and Konkuk University commented that the conference was an opportunity to share their passion for startup and innovation, strengthening the cooperation of both universities.
Ewha Womans University and Konkuk University will cooperate to contribute to more academia-industry collaboration and build the startup ecosystem.
