Song Jung Eun, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Physics, won the Best Award for Young Researchers (Poster) at the 7th Asian Applied Physics Conference (Hereafter, Asian-APC) held at Oita University, Japan, from November 26 (Sat) to 27 (Sun), 2022.

Asian-APC is an international conference organized by the Kyushu Chapter of the Japan Society of Applied Physics (JSAP), which has been contributing to the academic exchange and networking of researchers from Japan and Korea in the field of applied physics. The 7th Asian-APC, attended by about 140 people, featured lively research presentations on a variety of topics including thin films and surfaces, semiconductors, spintronics, and superconductivity.

The Asian-APC organizers select the top 5% of presenters through a rigorous screening process to present the Best Presentation Award for Young Researchers. Ms. Song received the Best Presentation Award for her presentation titled "Exciton-Plasmon Coupling in WS2 Monolayers on Au Nanopillars" for her experimental results on the optical properties of WS2 monolayers, a representative two-dimensional semiconductor material, enhanced by the surface plasmon effect of periodic metal nanostructures, and the electrical properties at the sample surface.
