Ewha University Library, signed an agreement on ‘Mutual Exchange and Sharing of Knowledge Information’ with Seodaemun-Gu

Ewha university Libary(Director: Professor Mi-Kyeong Cha) and Seodaemun-Gu Office agreed on ‘Mutual Exchange and Sharing of Knowledge Information’ at 5 p.m. on September 15 at Seodaemun-gu Office. The agreement is for sharing resources of the Foreign Research Information Center and for expanding library services. The agreement ceremony was held at Seodaemun-Gu Office, attended by officials from both organizations, including Professor Mi-Kyeong Cha from the University Library and Seok-jin Moon, Mayor of the Seodaemun-Gu Office.


According to the agreement, the two organizations decided to jointly promote various projects and research such as search &copy service of foreign academic journals in the Seodaemun public library via the Ewha Foreign Research Information Center, promoting both organizations’ service and publication, and other academic exchange. The agreement is expected to allow both organizations to share information and data of foreign academic journals and establish a cooperative and support system between public libraries and university libraries.


Seodaemun-Gu runs three local libraries, including Lee Jin-ah Memorial Library, and fourteen public Small Libraries. From September 15, 2020, foreign academic journals of the Ewha Foreign Research Information Center are available for users on the Seodaemun Public Library Website.


Professor Mi-Kyeong Cha, director of the University Library, said, "We hope our center can meet the demands of users in Seodaemun-Gu, so this can further expand the research support service of libraries in Seodaemun-Gu." Seok-jin Moon, Mayor of the Seodaemun-Gu Office, also said, "The agreement has upgraded the library service in Seodaemun," adding, "We will continue to cooperate with various other local institutions to expand services for our citizens."


Foreign Research Information Center in the University Library, supported by the Ministry of Education and operated by KERIS(Korea Education and Research Information Service), covers various fields like education, society, and arts. It has collected and preserved more than 2,500 kinds of renowned foreign academic journals in the fields. The center provides about 13,000 times of free copying services to all students and researchers in Korea every year.
