On August 27, 2020, Ewha Womans University Graduate School of Translation & Interpretation (Dean Mikyung Choi) signed a memorandum of understanding with the French-Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI, Managing Director Cédric Legrand) for cooperation between the two institutions.

According to the MOU, the Graduate School students will translate articles from ‘Corée Affaires,’ a magazine published twice a year by the FKCCI. The FKCCI will then specify the translators’ names in the articles and provide the Graduate School with materials on Korean-French economies, native-speaking presentations about careers, and lecture materials of translation and interpretation.

Also, the students who translate the articles will be eligible for the ‘Young Professional Membership’ of the FKCCI for one year. They can enjoy various membership benefits such as registration on the freelance network and membership list. The students will be provided with a student career counseling program (HR online platform counseling) as well. The MOU is expected to help students developing their future careers in the Graduate School, as it contains ample benefits of working experience and career development for students.

The FKCCI, established in 1986, has played a crucial role in promoting trade and investment, business relations between Korea and France. The FKCCI actively supports the Korean-French community by hosting video seminars, expanding business opportunities with customized services, encouraging cooperation between institutions of two countries, and promoting its member companies. Along with ‘Corée Affaires’ in which the students will actively participate in the translating, the FKCCI publishes several magazines to introduce French culture, such as ‘The Guide to French Wine in Seoul’, ‘The Guide to Korean Restaurants’. In addition, information about French companies conducting business in Korea can be found at 'franceinkorea21.com' in the form of  videos, maps, and infographics.
