The Global Studies Division (Chair Kim Jihye) of HOKMA College of General Education (Dean Lee Haeyoung) hosted the “2025 Fall Semester Global Studies Division Freshmen Welcome Event” on September 17 (Wednesday) at the ECC Lee Sambong Hall.
The event, prepared to help 254 newly admitted international students adapt to campus life and build connections, began with a welcoming address by Dean Lee Haeyoung, followed by a presentation about Ewha Womans University by “Ewha Rosa,” the Admissions Office student supporters, and a celebratory performance by the central dance club “Action,” concluding the first session.
The second session featured K-culture-themed recreational activities and a team quiz competition, providing opportunities for students to naturally interact and connect with one another.
All newly admitted international students of Ewha Womans University are affiliated with the Global Studies Division (GSP, Global Scholars Program) of HOKMA College of General Education during their first academic year (two semesters) after admission. The division helps students adjust to university life and improve their Korean language proficiency which is necessary for academic success in majors. It also supports students to develop Korean language skills needed both for general education and major courses, which enables them to achieve their academic goals effectively.
The Global Studies Division of HOKMA College of General Education will continue to provide various forms of support to ensure international students can actively experience both academic and cultural aspects of life at Ewha Womans University. It also plans to expand further opportunities for exchange, helping international students deeply understand Korean society and culture.
