Recognized for Outstanding Achievements in Pediatric Hematologic Research and Leadership in Academic Activities
Professor Kyung-Ha Yoo of the College of Medicine was honored with the Academic Award from the Korean Society of Hematology at the International Congress of the Korean Society of Hematology (ICKSH 2025), held on Friday, March 28 at the Grand Walkerhill Seoul.
The Academic Award is the highest honor bestowed by the Korean Society of Hematology. It is awarded annually to no more than two researchers who have made significant contributions to the advancement of hematology through at least ten years of continuous scholarly work in Korea.
Professor Yoo, a leading authority in pediatric oncology and hematologic malignancies, was recognized for her outstanding research achievements in pediatric hematologic diseases and her leadership in advancing academic activities within the field of hematology.
Upon receiving the award, Professor Yoo stated, “I am deeply honored to receive such a prestigious award from a distinguished society. I am grateful that my contributions to the advancement of medicine in Korea have been recognized. I will continue to dedicate myself to research to improve treatments for patients with hematologic diseases.”
Professor Yoo currently serves as Vice President for Medical Affairs at Ewha Womans University and President of Ewha Womans University Medical Center. She has also served as Director of the Korea Association for Children with Leukemia and Cancer, Academic and Financial Director of the Korean Society of Hematology, and Publication and Academic Director of the Korean Society of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology, where she later assumed the role of President.
