Ewha Successfully Hosted Networking Event, ‘Startup Rookies Meet Alumni’

The ‘2024 EWHA Startup Alumni: Startup Rookies Meet Alumni’ event, jointly organized by Ewha Womans University's Startup Support Center and Technology Holdings, concluded successfully on Wednesday, November 13th, at the Ewha Startup Open Space. The event was presided by alumna and announcer Jeong Yeon-ju (graduate of Public Administration major in 1998), and welcomed 58 participants, including alumni, aspiring entrepreneurs, and current members of the startup ecosystem. The program featured diverse lectures, networking opportunities, and mentoring sessions.
A Program Filled with Startup Cases and Mentoring
The event began with lectures by alumni entrepreneurs sharing their startup journeys. Speakers included Lim Chae-hyun (CEO of Petddok, graduate of Business Administration in 2019), Kim Min-jeong (CEO of CrePASS Solutions, graduate of Public Administration in 1996), and Jeong Ji-yin (Manager at D.Camp, graduate of Education in 2020). They provided practical advice and inspiration to participants. The mentoring sessions that followed saw senior alumni entrepreneurs specializing in investment, legal matters, and business strategy offering tailored solutions to aspiring entrepreneurs’ concerns.
Talk Concert and Rookie Pitching, Sharing Startup Insights
The highlight of the event was a talk concert with startup mentors under the theme "Anyone Can Start a Business". Alumni mentors including Lee Hee-jung (Director at CNT Tech, graduate of Law in 1994) as an investment mentor, Cho Sun-hee (Lawyer at D.L.G., graduate of Law in 2005) as a mentor in the legal field, and Jung Soo-yeon (CEO of Tech & Law Ventures, graduate of English Literature in 2001) as a management mentor. They shared insights into challenges faced during the startup process and their solutions, providing valuable advice to the mentees.
Following the talk concert, the Rookie Pitching session allowed participants to present their startup ideas. Ultimate (CEO: Lim Ji-min, master’s student in Food and Nutrition) won the Best Rookie Award by presenting a premium plant-based chicken breast product. Bright Rookie Awardee was the Earliest (CEO: Park Yeo-kyung, Computer Science undergraduate) for a service streamlining operations at senior welfare centers. Potential Rookie Award went to Retriever Salon (CEO: Cha Jae-eun, Consumer Studies graduate) for a trustworthy matchmaking app based on friend recommendations (My Friend’s Recommendation). Participants expressed high satisfaction with the event, highlighting the mentoring sessions and startup case studies as particularly helpful. Many shared that the event boosted their confidence in pursuing entrepreneurship.
Kim Sang-joon, Director of Ewha Startup Support Center, stated, “We will continue to strengthen our support for aspiring entrepreneurs in designing their futures”. Seo Ji-hee, CEO of Ewha Technology Holdings, added, “We will create more opportunities for alumni entrepreneurs and aspiring founders to connect and grow together”.
