9th Ewha MediTech Forum Held ‘Global R&D Policy Trends and K-BioMedi Vision’

Ewha Womans University Medical Center (Director Ryu Kyung-ha), in collaboration with the university's Research Office and Industry Collaboration Foundation, hosted the 9th Ewha MediTech Forum on Wednesday, July 3, at 2 PM in the grand auditorium on the B2 floor of Ewha Seoul Hospital.
Marking its ninth year, the Ewha MediTech Forum has been an annual gathering since 2018, where researchers from diverse fields such as medicine, biotechnology, engineering, and the bio-health industry, come together to share the latest insights and foster interdisciplinary research.
This year's forum, under the theme of 'Global R&D Policy Trends and K-BioMedi Vision,' featured prominent speakers including Cha Soon-do, President of the Korea Health Industry Development Institute; Luke P. Lee, Professor at Harvard Medical School; Ewha's professors Kim Dong-ha (Chemistry and Nanoscience), professors from College of Medicine Kwon Oh-ran (Food and Nutrition), Cho In-jung (Cardiology), and Shin Tae-young (Urology).
The second session, chaired by Kim Young-joo, Director of the FemTech R&D Center, included lectures from leading experts: Professor Luke P. Lee from Harvard Medical School presented on 'Vision for K-BioMed and Brain MAP (Microphysiological Analysis Platform),' Professor Kim Dong-ha on 'Precision Design for Theragnosis via Hybrid Plasmonic Nanostructures,' and Professor Cho In-jung on 'Sex/Gender Differences in Cardiovascular Diseases.'
The third session, chaired by Kim Han-soo, Director of Ewha Mokdong Hospital, featured lectures from representatives of bio-health companies actively engaged in joint research and development within Ewha Medical Center. Professor Kwon Oh-ran, CEO of Logme Inc. and Professor at Ewha, presented on 'Leveraging Precision Nutrition, Big Data, and AI for Promoting Healthy Aging,' Lee Jong-myung, CEO of Skia Inc., on 'Implementing Immersive Pinless AR Navigation in Brain Tumor Surgery: A Case Study,' and Shin Tae-young, CEO of Synergy AI Inc., on 'Revolutionizing Healthcare: The Vision of AI-Driven Medicine.'

Professor Lee Hyang-woon, who organized and led every Ewha MediTech Forum until now, stated, "This forum reaffirmed Ewha Medical Center's commitment to R&D in line with the K-BioMedi vision, based on the understanding of global R&D policy trends. As we live in a global era, the forum became a platform for serious discussion among experts, emphasizing the importance of joint efforts among the industry, academia, research, and hospitals to develop future medical technologies."
