The successful hosting of the “4th Ewha Graduate School of Innovative AI Convergence and Industry Collaboration Forum”

Bringing together corporate officials, professors, and students to enhance industrial collaboration
Following special lectures by KT AI2XL Research Director Bae Soon-min, SAIT AI Research Center Ji Dae-hyun, and RideFlux Vice President Jung Ha-wook
The “4th Ewha Graduate School of Innovative AI Convergence and Industry Collaboration Forum” successfully concluded on April 4, 2024, at ECC Lee Sam-bong Hall.
Ewha established the “AI Convergence” major under the graduate school of AI and SW (software) Engineering in July 2022, with the government (Ministry of Science and ICT/IITP) support to nurture talent in innovative AI convergence.
Head of the project and the professor of the College of AI, Computer Science Department Choi Byeong-joo, stated in his opening remarks, “This event is a gathering of professors, corporates, and graduate students cooperating for nurturing master’s and PhD students of AI convergence”, adding that, “Collaborating among industries is crucial for nurturing talent in AI field.” He explained, “There are two sides to industrial collaboration; one is that students receive support from companies in their education and research, and the other is enhancing employees’ AI convergence capabilities. For instance, employees can partake as interns in the labs or take graduate programs.”
During this 4th Industry Collaboration Forum, 216 participants attended, including 25 industry players from 18 companies, 23 professors, 89 graduate students (75 of them majoring in AI Convergence), and 76 undergraduate students. During the first session, participants learned about recent trends in AI convergence through the lecture, and during the second session, graduate students met with industry workers and shared information about internships, job opportunities, and AI convergence-related topics.

Dean of the College of AI, Park Hyun-seok, emphasized the importance of industrial collaboration, saying, “Nurturing talent is essential in the rapidly changing AI field. We need to diversify talent development through collaboration with companies so that we adapt to the rapidly changing market environment.”
There were the following lectures under the theme of “The Impact of Generative AI and KT’s Challenges” by KT AI2XL Research Director Bae Soon-min, “Generative AI in Autonomous Driving” by SAIT (Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology) AI Research Center Ji Dae-hyun, and “AI for Autonomous Driving Services” by RideFlux Vice President Jung Ha-wook.

During the second session, graduate students met with companies and industry workers and shared information about internships and job opportunities. This forum is scheduled to be held every semester in April and October.
