Professor Yoon is a leading researcher in South Korea, with an h-index of 130, and has been recognized as one of the world's top 1% researchers by Clarivate Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters) for ten consecutive years from 2014 to 2023. As a world-renowned expert in the field of organic fluorescent sensors, he has developed sensors capable of selectively detecting key substances in the body such as molecules and ions related to degenerative, cardiovascular, and inflammatory diseases. Additionally, he has pioneered research in photodynamic cancer therapy based on organic molecules by incorporating structures that can produce reactive oxygen species in response to light sensor systems. In May 2024, he received the "2024 Advances in Measurement Science Lectureship Award" from the American Chemical Society.

The honorary fellowship certificate ceremony took place on Saturday, June 1, in Changsha, Hunan Province, during “The 9th International Symposium on Bioanalysis, Biomedical Engineering and Nanotechnology & the 4th Yuelu Frontier Forum of Analytical Chemistry”. After the award ceremony, Professor Yoon delivered a keynote speech titled "Recent Progress on Fluorescent Imaging Probes and Phototherapy."
