Since 2012, the Korean Language Education Department of the institute has been operating the Ministry of Justice's Immigrant Social Integration Program, contributing to immigrants’ social integration. This program is part of the government’s social integration policy that aims to help foreign residents adapt more easily as members of Korean society through systematic education in the Korean language, economics, society, and law. The Korean Language Education Department is conducting research on Korean culture pedagogics development, evaluation, curriculum, and supplementary study materials to enhance the quality of education.

Furthermore, the Institute's Intercultural Education Department has been conducting research on "Understanding and Dissemination of Interculturalism" and "Participation and Practice of Interculturalism" since 2018, providing research results to foreigners. The Department is also implementing intercultural academic conferences and training programs for cultural diversity instructors.
