Academic Exchange Event Held between the Department of Health Convergence and Silpakorn University in Thailand

On Thursday, May 2, an academic exchange event was held in the Main building room 553 between the Health Convergence Department and the Department of Health Consumer Protection and Pharmacy Administration of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Silpakorn University in Thailand. This event marks the first official academic exchange event held at Ewha since the MOU and MOA signing ceremony between the two on January 22, 2024.

The event began with welcoming remarks from Kim Hye-kyeong, Dean of the College of Science & Industry Convergence at Ewha, and Dean Pornsak Sriamornsak, Department of Pharmacy at Silpakorn University, followed by introductions of the respective departments. Professor Ahn Jeong-hoon, department head of the College introduced the Health Convergence Department, while Professor Sineenart Krichanchai presented an overview of the Department of Pharmacy at Silpakorn University. To facilitate various research collaborations, Professor Ahn Jeong-hoon introduced Korea’s healthcare system, and Vice Dean Ahn Song-vogue of the College explained healthcare big data in Korea.

The Health Convergence Department of the College of Science & Industry Convergence has been leading interdisciplinary healthcare research in various fields such as healthcare promotion and behavior, health education, epidemiology (infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases, pharmacy), and health economics, nurturing healthcare professionals in Korea for the past 60 years. Moreover, since 2024, it has been operating the "Seoul Smoking Cessation Support Center," a private support project funded by the Ministry of Health and Welfare with an annual budget of 1.8 billion won, contributing to academic and government projects in a balanced manner. Professors and graduate students from Silpakorn University who attended the event showed great interest in the national data utilization research of the Health Convergence Department and the Seoul Smoking Cessation Support Center project. Subsequent in-depth discussions continued regarding research collaboration and student exchange programs between the two universities.
