Ewha, with the Cornell University Law School, will be operating 'Meridian 180' to enhance transpacific dialogue and to find novel solutions to some of the most difficult policy issues facing the Asia-Pacific region. On November 28, 2014, Meridian has launched its first institutional partnership in Asia, a Korea center at Ewha.

On December 23, 2014, Kyunghee Choi, the President of Ewha, met professor Annelise Riles, the director of 'Meridian 180' and had a discussion about an effective method of operating a Korea center for 'Meridian 180'. Soo Geun Oh, the dean of Ewha Law School, Ihn-hwi Park, the director of Office of International Affairs, and professor Eunice Kim at Ewha Law School also participated in this discussion.

In this meeting, President Choi thanked professor Riles for her efforts to make it possible to launch a joint exchange program to allow faculty and students from Ewha Law and Cornell Law to work together. The President said, "We hope the partnership between Ewha and 'Meridian 180' will be a successful one and through this program, we expect to expand a collaboration not only to law but also to various areas such as humanities, sociology and arts."

Professor Riles expressed her appreciation for the partnership between Ewha and 'Meridian 180'. She said she and her colleagues were quite aware of the highest achievements Ewha had accomplished, and wanted to have a partnership with Ewha, more than with any other University in Korea. She also added that Ewha's Christian mission to contribute to the world aligns with Meridian's mission to make the world a better place.

'Meridian 180' is an interdisciplinary research program and a think-thank that Cornell Law School initiated in March 2013 in order to find novel solutions to key challenges in the Pacific Rim. About 670 distinguished members such as the scholars from US, Europe, Asia's prestigious universities, as well as policymakers, lawyers, and accountants around the world generate new ideas about market law, security and diplomacy through on-and-offline discussions.

The Korea Center located at Ewha Law School is an affiliate of Ewha Legal Science Institute and will focus on planning, research, hosting a conference and creating a local community to operate 'Meridian 180' effectively under the direction of professor Eunice Kim. On March 31, 2015, the first international conference "Democracy in an Age of Shifting Demographics" cohosted by Ewha and Cornell will be held at Ewha. Participants of the conference will include scholars from US, Australia, China and Japan as well as professors from Ewha. Three main themes of this conference are: "Values and Ethics", "the Promises and Shortcomings of Redistribution Policies", and "Fairness and Equality".

Ewha established the strategic partnership with Cornell University on October, 2013,  and will be sending Ewha Law School's professors to the Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies at Cornell University as visiting professors in 2015. Ewha Law School also has launched a joint exchange program to allow faculty and students from Ewha Law and Cornell Law to teach and learn at each other's institutions.
