Ewha’s College of Engineering held the special seminar by Dr. Yuan T. Lee, the First Taiwanese Nobel Prize Laureate

On December 8th, Ewha’s College of Engineering invited Dr. Yuan T. Lee, the first Taiwanese Nobel Prize Laureate and held the special seminar on "The Future of Ewha’s Science and Engineering, from the Nobel Prize Laureate" at the ECC Lee San-bong Hall. In this seminar, about 200 of Ewha’s students, professors, and the general public attended and listened to Dr. Lee’s profound insight regarding the crucial role of Science and Engineering and how it contributes towards the development of society. The mission and vision of fostering the talented of the future were also discussed.

The honorary speaker, Dr. Lee won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his vast contributions concerning the dynamics of chemical elementary processes in 1986. He served as a professor at UC Berkley and as an Executive Director of ICSU in Paris. Additionally, he founded ‘Future Earth’, a research project for global sustainability which was supported by UNEP and UNESCO. Proceeding the seminar, Ewha will also be looking for the opportunity to serve as a local-hub for ‘Future Earth.’
