Schoolteachers and Educational Administrators from Thailand Visit Ewha to Enhance Capacity for Korean Language Education

From October 20 to 29, Ewha hosted a total of 20 schoolteachers and educational administrators from Thailand to open the 2014 Korean Studies Workshop for Thai Educators, which took place in both Korea and Thailand. This marked the first occasion for Thai educators to visit a Korean university and attend a workshop on Korean studies, which globally showcases the outstanding capacity for Korean language education at Ewha’s Graduate School of International Studies.
This workshop was designed to strengthen the capacity for Korean language education among Thai educators, such as principals and teachers at middle and high schools, educational administrators, and Korean language teachers across the country. Throughout the ten-day workshop, the participants were offered a variety of programs, including seminars regarding Korean studies, a visit to Korean high school classes and Korean families, experience of traditional Korean culture, and trips to historical and cultural sites.
On October 29, a final discussion forum was held, together with the closing ceremony in which certificates were awarded. Returning to their home country with enhanced knowledge of Korean studies and experience of Korea gained over the ten days, the Thai delegation is expected to work towards further disseminating the Korean language, promoting Korea-Thailand exchanges, and educating the next generation of students and educators.
