Ewha’s Vision for Unification, The First Yoon Hoo Jung Unification Forum

Ewha held “The First Yoon Hoo Jung Unification Forum: the Unification of the Korean Peninsula, Peace in Northeast Asia” at Lee San-bong Hall in the ECC building on June 25.
The newly established Yoon Hoo Jung Unification Forum is a venue to examine and discuss the ways to help social development, following the will of President Emeritus Yoon Hoo Jung. Former President Yoon has been devoted to Ewha and Korean women for almost 60 years, first as Korea’s pioneering female constitutional scholar, then as Ewha president, and then chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Ewha Womans University. The forum is also the first of its kind founded through an individual’s donation.
After congratulatory addresses from Lee Hong-koo, former prime minister and Yun Byung-se, Minister of Foreign Affairs, JoongAng Ilbo editor at large Kim Young-hee presided over the event. As panelists, highly authoritative and recognized experts in the field of the foreign affairs and unification participated in the discussion including: Cho Hyoung, Professor Emeritus of Ewha University; Jeong Se-hyun, former Minister of Unification; Chang Dal-joong, Professor Emeritus of Seoul National University; and Song Min-soon, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
From this year, the forum will be held annually in order to identify sustainable and feasible solutions to Korean unification.
