Five Ewha Students Selected for the 2014 Global Ph.D. Fellowship

Five Ewha students in the doctoral program and the combined master-doctoral program have been selected for the 2014 Global Ph.D. Fellowship program, supported by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea.
This program that fosters key talent is designed to provide university students in doctoral programs in Korea with two-year intensive support through an annual grant of 30 million KRW, allowing them to be committed to studies and research without concern over tuition and living expenses. Launched in 2011, the program has rewarded grants every subsequent year.
This year a total of five Ewha students became recipients of the fellowships: three in the humanities and social sciences (English Language & Literature, Psychology, and Social Studies Education) and two in the sciences and technology (Electronic Engineering and Brain & Cognitive Sciences).
One of the recipients, Gang Il-hyang (Brain & Cognitive Sciences) said, “It is one of the most encouraging fellowships for fledging researchers since the recipients are selected based on an evaluation of their research proposals.” She added, “It will serve as a platform for recipients to indirectly experience various fields of research through the fellowship network as they grow into independent researchers.”
