The convocation ceremony for the 2013 Ewha-KOICA Master’s Program in International Studies was held at the LG Convention Hall in the International Education Building on June 9, 2014.

Ewha-KOICA Master’s Program in International Studies is a four-semester master’s program, co-hosted by the Ewha Graduate School of International Studies and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) that offers training with tuition support for female civil servants, researchers, and educational institution associates from developing countries. The program has been recognized for its effectiveness and influence as its graduates take active roles in policy making and contribute to development in their home countries.

This year, 27 women from 20 countries including Afghanistan, Cambodia, Ghana, Rwanda, and Papua New Guinea received their degrees at the Convocation Ceremony, increasing the total number of graduates from this program to 204 from 50 countries thus far.
Through  the 16-month program, students learn about Korea’s development cases, women’s rights, and varied welfare-related knowledge, and discuss the urgent problems facing developing countries and the potential breakthroughs by sharing their own experiences. After completing the program, participants establish a firm groundwork in the fields of women’s rights and development enabling them to contribute to social development in their respective countries. When they return to their home countries, they contribute to woman issues and national development as woman leaders in the region in various capacities such as professors, NGO activists, and public servants.
