From June 20th to 21st, President Kim participated in the ‘Deutsch-Koreanisches Forum,’ held in Goslar, Germany, as a delegate from Korea. During the Korea-Germany Forum, about 70 Korean and German participants discussed various subjects and enjoyed commemorative events, such as the ‘130th anniversary of the Establishment of Korea-Germany diplomatic relations’ and ‘the 2nd Korea-German Junior-Forum.’ In addition, President Kim signed an MOU with University of Rostock to promote various forms of collaboration, including exchanging up to four students each year.

On June 24th, President Kim visited Konstfack University in Sweden to discuss collaboration between the Colleges of Art. She later signed an MOU with Eva Akesson, the President of Uppsala University, to establish student and faculty exchange and carry out joint research over the course of the next five years. As a result of the trip, Ewha will also establish collaborations with Gluntens Montessori School and Stockholm University, both in Sweden.

During her trip, President Kim also visited Lund University and Chalmers University of Technology to explore collaboration in various academic fields, including technology. Dr. Mats Viberg, Vice president of Chalmers University of Technology, stated that, “I was able to assure the excellence of Ewha’s progressive spirit and educational capabilities”, proposing possible collaboration in joint masters degrees in technology.

President Kim visited Sophiahemmet University College to discuss extending the scope of exchange of Ewha’s School of Nursing. She also discussed collaboration with the University of Gothenburg’s President, Prof. Pam Fredman, in the fields of women studies, design and education.

During her trip, President Kim met with many other key organizations and governmental figures, including the Swedish Equality Ombudsman, Swedish Ministry of Gender Equality, Finnish Equality Ombudsman, and The National Council of Women in Finland, in order to explore present gender policies in Northern Europe and share views on achieving gender equality.
