Ewha launched the first domestic public affairs office in Korea, ‘Ewha Welcome Center’, which is officially open from June. Public affairs offices for visitors are common in ivy league schools abroad such as Harvard University and Stanford University, however this is the first Korean university to open one.

The Ewha Welcome Center, which held an opening ceremony on May 31st (Fri. 11:15am), is now on a trial run. It is designed to function as an overall integrated campus information center as well as a place of global promotion open for Ewha graduates, domestic and foreign visitors, middle and high school students, and local residents. Ewha’s president Kim Sun-Uk said in the opening ceremony “the Ewha Welcome Center will become the ‘front door’ of Ewha and base for active promotion of Ewha’s brand value”.

Utilizing 681.5㎡ area of newly constructed underground area located near the Ewha’s front gate (exhibition and gift shop 394.8㎡), the Ewha Welcome Center consists of an information desk, media exhibition room, photo zone, and a souvenir shop.

A history gallery shows ‘Ewha Spirit’ which introduces the name, motto, and emblem of Ewha, a ‘History Wall’ which introduces the periodical history of Ewha by video monitors and exhibition on the wall, and ‘Ewha Now‘ featuring the past and present of Ewha in numbers and outcomes. Ewha inside consists of ‘Ewha People (First Ewha graduate, Ewha and global leader, principals of Ewha)’, ‘Ewha Power (Introducing each college and graduate school, Ewha research competence, global Ewha, Ewha campus)’ and provides ‘Ewha Video’ which shows view of Ewha campus in four seasons, as well as promotional historic videos on 16m wide screen.

In the photo zone visitors can take commemorative photographs of their visit to the Ewha welcome center which can be received instantly or sent by emails. All profits from the photo zone are used for providing scholarship to support global women intelligence.

After the trial run ends the Ewha Welcome Center will remain open from 9:30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday starting on June 10th (Mon.).
