Ewha Woman’s University held an unveiling ceremony of the ‘Ewha Donor’s Wall’ in order to praise the meaningful contributions of the college development fund and scholarship donors on May 9th, at ECC.

Located in the multi-purpose auditorium of ECC, the ‘Ewha Donor’s Wall’ was inspired by the concept of the ‘Light of the Sharing.’ It consists of two different kinds of walls, a ‘Digital Wall’, which includes the names of all 18,733 donors, and an ‘Analogue Wall’ with the names of 221 large givers.

Commemorating the 127th anniversary of Ewha’s foundation day, Ewha arranged a special space to treat donors with exceptional respect and to cherish their contributions.

Not only for the large givers, the space also pays respect to the young graduates who have participated in the small-sum fund-raising. This was to recognize the valuable meaning of all kinds of sharing, which reflects the spirit of Ewha.

At the welcoming ceremony, Ewha’s President Kim Sun-Uk said, “Having the oldest tradition of donation history of Ewha, it is a great pleasure to establish a space of thanks and appreciation for donors, and I express my thanks to all of you who have come to this ceremony today.”

A Digital Wall shows the visions of Ewha, which aims be become the ‘Hub of Global Education of Women’ based on devotion and sharing, by creating a world map with the names of 18,733 donors. An Analogue Wall embodied the ‘Light of the Sharing’ by engraving the nameplates of the donors with lights. The kiosk is interspersed with touch screens so people can search for information about the Ewha’s donation history, lists of donors, and interviews with them.

More than 200 donors participated in the ceremony, including the chairman of the board Jang, Ewha President Kim Sun-Uk, and those who have donated a billion won for Ewha’s further development, President Emeritus Yoon Hoo-jung and President of the Mokchon-Kimjungsik Cultural Foundation, Kim Jung Sik also took part. In a subsequent ceremony, Kim was presented with a letter of appreciation for having agreed to donate two billion won to Ewha.
