GSIS Holds Ewha-KOICA Master’s Homecoming Day

25 Graduates Gather in Hanoi, Vietnam

Ewha’s Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS) held the master’s homecoming day and an international academic conference of Ewha-KOICA GSIS in Hanoi, Vietnam to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of relations between Korea and Vietnam.

The Ewha-KOICA GSIS master’s program was created to intensively educate developing countries’ researchers and women civil servants. Ewha and KOICA have been cooperatively operating the master’s program by selecting talented women from developing countries such as Guatemala, Honduras, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ghana, Sudan, and Iraq.

The Ewha-KOICA GSIS Master’s Homecoming Day, held on September 20 (Thursday), was attended by Prof. Kim Eun-mi, Dean of GSIS, Prof. Yim Eun-mi, Prof. Kim Ji-young, and Vietnamese officials. Additionally, a total of 25 Ewha graduates from Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam participated in the event. Graduates shared their experiences in their post graduation jobs as well as how their experience in the Ewha-KOICA program helped them develop their talent and skills.

The international academic conference, titled ‘Capacity Enhancement for Sustainable Development: Vision from Asia’, continued on September 21 (Friday). The international academic conference featured three sessions focused on capacity building with sustainable development, empowerment with capacity building of genders, and their applications in various job fields. Various graduates of KOICA-Ewha who are employed in governmental organizations highlighted their experiences, which accompanied speeches by Prof. Kim Eun-mi, Dean of GSIS, and Professor Yim.
