The EGI Team Finished Their Seventh Trip to Europe

The 'EGI' Program, also known as the 'Ewha Global Initiative Scholarship Program' finished its seventh trip this summer on June 29th. The team consisted of twenty seven students and professor Song KiJung(French Language & Literature) made an official visitto CNAF(Caisse nationale des allocations familiales), the Korean Embassy at France, the headquarters of UNESCO and OECD, the local office of KIA Motors in France, and other important organizations in Austria, Slovakia, and Czech during their 14 days stay in Europe. The program is designed to encourage students to travel around the countries and visited prestigious universities and government organizations to write reports.

Especially in this trip, the team had many opportunities to meet with people who have contributed in making Korea known in the global society. They include Korean consul general at the embassy in France, Yoo BokRyul who had lead the practical negotiation on the 'return of Korean royal documents stolen by French troops' during invasion nearly 150 years ago. In addition, they've had the chance to listen to the special lecture from Choi JunHo, the director of the 'Centre Culturel Korea' in France who has contributed in making the K-pop the current topic in the Europe.


In addition, Vincent Berger, the president of the 7th Paris University, who has established the first Korean Studies as a curriculum in France,allocated some time to have a meeting time with the EGI team. In Austria, they had a meeting with the CEO Park JongBum of YoungSan Group and had the chance to listen to the stories of the challenges and the performances of Korea's corporation, aiming for the global market. Lastly, the students visited the Vienne International Organization representatives and learned about the qualities in order to have a career in the international organizations.

The purpose of this program is to systematically sponsor the next global leaders to develop a sense of global competitiveness. It has been widely recognized as a very meaningful opportunity and has become very popular among students.
