Fourteen Ewha Students Selected in the 'Global Ph.D. Fellowship' Program
Fourteen Ewha students in doctoral program have been selected in 'Global Ph.D. Fellowship' which is supported by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the National Research Foundation. 'Global Ph.D. Fellowship' is a program fostering national key talent which started this year. The purpose of the program is to help the promising Ph.D.s concentrate on study and research without worrying about the tuition and the living expenses. Research proposals were evaluated on the first and the second stage and the evaluation team consisted of global scholars reviewed their creativity, leadership and the ability to solve problems through English interview on the third stage.
Forty students applied for the program from Ewha and twenty-one students who have been selected on the first and the second stage. They have been consulted by their advisor professors and as a result, fourteen students have been selected in the final round.
Ewha has shown great performance although the school has relatively small number of students in doctoral program. Ewha ranked the 7th in the total number of the selected students, which accounts for 35% of the students who applied.
Seoul National University, which has the largest number of the students who have been selected, has 28% of selection rate. 1271 students from 22 major universities throughout Korea had a keen competition and 287 Ph.D. candidates have been selected.
