The Farewell and Inauguration Ceremony for the Chairperson of Ewha Hakdang Held

The Farewell and Inauguration Ceremony for Ewha Hakdang’s 8th chairperson Dr. Yoon Hoo-Jung and the next chairperson Dr. ChangMyong-Sue took place on March 3rdat LG Convention Hall, Ewha International Education Building.

The ceremony started with the thanks note from Kim Sun-Uk, the president of Ewha Womans University, followed by the farewell speech of Dr. Yoon Hoo-Jung, the former chairperson of Ewha Hakdang. Dr. Kim Dong-Chul, the honorary professor of Ewha Womans University gave a congratulating speech followed by the inaugural speech of Dr. Chang Myong-Sue the new chairperson of Ewha Hakdang.

The ceremony held the investiture of appreciation plaque to the former chairperson Dr. Yoon Hoo-Jung from the president of Ewha Womans University and the new chairperson of Ewha Hakdang.

Dr. Yoon Hoo-Jung has served for Ewha for 40 years as a professor, 6 years as the president of Ewha Womans University, and 11 years as the chairperson of Ewha Hakdang, devoting herself to the development of Ewha. She was the first scholar of constitutions, women's studies in law scholar, and an pioneering educrat of Korea to realize consistence within theory and the practice.

Chang Myong-Sue, the 9th chairperson of Ewha Hakdang envisioned Ewha in two roles in her inaugural speech. "Ewha has to become the academic institute that finds ways to devote to the peace, the prosperity and the human rights as well as co-exist with the universities. We must always not forget to practicethe spirit of Mrs. Mary F. Scranton, the founder of Ewha who had come to a faraway wasteland to help Koreans become better Koreans. Ewha has a role in the society; to help more people experience the joy self-realizationand devotion to the society that education can offer to individuals. We must repay the help that Ewha has received throughout 125 years growing into the world's biggest women's university and the Korea's one of the most prestigious universities", she said.
