3,513 Ewha Graduates, Heading Toward the Wider World
The 2010 commencement was held at Welch-Ryang Auditorium, on February 28th (Monday 2:00 PM). Ewha has conferred 3,513 degrees including 2,429 bachelor‘s, 981 master’s, and 103 doctoral degree.
"I would like to congratulate you all for becoming a member of the society and a part of Ewha's global network. I firmly believe that you are fully equipped with professionalism, broad-mindedness, and responsibility and will be acknowledged by the world. I hope you would pioneer your field as Ewha has built up her history with a vision for 125 years" said President Kim Sun-Uk in her speech during the ceremony.
Eight students from the EGPP(Ewha Global Partnership Program) graduated. EK-ong-art Apichaya from Thailand realized her dream to become a talent who can devote both to Korea and her home country by getting the opportunity to start her career at POSCO in Thailand. Ganbaatar Ochtsetseg who finished the three year, Korean taught Economics undergraduate program, will be working at an investment bank in Mongol as she graduates. EGPP was initiated in 2006 to foster women from developing countries with full scholarship as a commemoration project of Ewha's 120th Anniversary and is producing fruitful talents of the world.
In addition, the first 25 students of the Scranton Honors Program, which was the first open major program established in Korea. The average GPA of the graduates is 3.89 which includes two top graduates in a department, six summa cum laude, and fourteen cum laude, recording high academic achievements. Seventeen of the graduateshave decided to continue their study in graduate school.
