Alumni of 'Ewha-KOICA Master's Program' Gathered in Africa

Ewha Graduate School of International Studies held the ‘Ewha-KOICA Homecoming Day’ and a local international academic conference from February 10 to 11 at Tanzania Dar-es-Salaam, Africa and discussed the vision for the development of Africa.

The 'Ewha-KOICA Master's Program' commenced in 2007 and has produced women leaders from the developing countries. Presently, the graduates are playing important roles as women leaders around the world in the field of woman issues and community development.

Ewha-KOICA Homecoming Day was held on February 10th with 20 students from countries including Ghana, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Cambodia, Guatemala, Uzbekistan, and Ecuador. Professor Kim Eun-Mi, the Dean of International Graduate School, Professor Choi Byung-Il, Lim Eun-Mi, Kim Bok-Hee, the director of KOICA training business department, and Oh Sung-Su, the director of Tanzania Administrative Office ofKOICA participated at the homecoming to celebrate the gathering of the alumni.

The graduating student participants at the ceremony promised themselves consistent exchange and cooperation and looked forward to establishing a KOICA alumni association in the Africa region. Most of the Ewha-KOICA Master's Program graduates were promoted and had their salary raised and proved that the program provided various chances to develop individual talents.

On February 11th, Ewha held the first local international academic conference in Africa. The theme of the conference was on 'Good Practice of ODA: Voices from the Field'. 120 people including the graduates of Ewha-KOICA Master's Program, people from World Friends Korea and United Nations Volunteers as well as Kim Young-Hoon, the Korean Ambassador to Tanzania, Yambesi, the undersecretary of the president's office of Tanzania.
