The Ewha Language Center held the ‘Lunar New Year's Day Festival’ for foreign students at Ewha-Samsung Education Culture Building on January 28 from 10 AM to 1:30 PM.

350 foreign students from Ewha International Graduate School, Ewha Language Center, and Ewha Global Partnership Program participated and had a memorable time experiencing Korean traditional culture at the festival. The students had the chance to play Yut, and Jegi, the classic Korean games usually played on holidays.

At the ceremony before luncheon, performance programs 'Singing Korean Songs' and 'Parades of Up-to-date Korean Dances' prepared by foreign students themselves took place. Students boasted their singing and dancing talents to celebratingthe New Year's Day. Dressed in Hanbok, the Korean traditional dress, students cooked and shared Korean traditional food enjoyed on the lunar New Year’s Day in Korea.

“As the lunar new years day is one of the biggest holidays of Korea, we have prepared various events for the foreignstudents who are apart from their family to study in Korea. Even though we have different languages and cultures, I hope this festival has made a good chance for foreign students to share friendship as one family and enjoy the experience of traditional customs and culture to understand Korea more", said professor Yang Hye-Soon, the center director of Ewha Language Center.
