The Newly Selected 3rd Ewha Global Campus Leaders Kick Off Fall Semester
Ewha Global Campus Leader initiated their fall semester term of 2009 with the inaugurating orientation held on September 25th, Friday.
Ewha Global Campus Leader which is the first university student ambassador group composed of only foreign students founded in 2008, has newly selected 20 new members. The newly selected Ewha Global Campus Leaders members are consisted of students from 11 countries showing diversity of applicants, including China, Denmark, Germany, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, and so on.
The reason why foreign students are so enthusiastic about becoming Ewha Global Campus Leaders is usually their love for Ewha and the honor to represent it.
"Ewha is one of the main reasons why I grew so fond of Korea and didn't hesitate when I was offered a second stay at Ewha," said Anna Katharina(University of Paderborn, Germany) who has extended her study at Ewha for another semester. She came to Korea after Jens Naussed, the 1st member of Ewha Global Campus Leader recommended that Ewha as the best university to visit in Korea.
Some Ewha Global Campus Leaders are already eager to work as agents when they go back after this term. "I think Ewha Global Campus Leader is a good chance to show the Ewha to our mother country, I will talk to visitors and tell them my experiences in Ewha," said Fu Jiayin from Peking University, China. "I want to become a Ewha Global Campus Leader because I want others to know how great Ewha is. There were no applicants for three years from my home university. I am really proud to be part of Ewha, and like to have more students from my university to come join this community," Reiko Hoshi from Japan Women's University said as she told everybody why she had wanted to become Ewha Global Campus Leader.
There are ten male leaders among Ewha Global Campus Leaders. In addition to unique atmosphere of a 'women's university', they are fascinated by the research capacity of Ewha as well. "I have studied at for Ewha Summer Program in 2007. I was awarded a scholarship back at my school, so I did not hesitate to come back to Ewha because of how great the experience was." Kevin Richardson from Michigan State University of U.S. said. Chi Hwan Lee from Free University Berlin, Germany has further plans at Ewha. "After graduation, I like to come back to Ewha to study for my master's degree and enhance my knowledge about Korea and its people."
In order to become the official delegates representing Ewha, Ewha Global Campus Leaders will have a workshop to get to learn Ewha better through campus tour, and visiting the Ewha Archive. Throughout the semester, Ewha Global Campus Leaders will participate a volunteer activity, promotion workshop, and online promotion activity to publicize Ewha to the world.
