Ewha Embraces the World: Ewha-Harvard Summer School Program and International Co-Ed Summer College

2014 Ewha-Harvard Summer School Program

On August 1, the Ewha-Harvard Summer School celebrated the completion of its eight-week program in a closing ceremony co-hosted by the Graduate School of International Studies at Ewha and Harvard University. Ewha-Harvard Summer School is Korea’s only joint summer session program with Harvard University, and participants in this year’s program consisted of seven students from Harvard and 16 students from Korean universities including Ewha, under the theme of “Cinema Korea: Documenting Korean Society through Film.”

Based on content learned through a variety of lectures and activities, the students filmed six documentaries reflecting their thoughts on Korea and Korean society, and received good reviews for the quality and unique perspectives in their works. 

 

2014 International Co-Ed Summer College

2014 International Co-Ed Summer College was held as a venue for young talented people around the world to gather and study Korea as a subject. Initiated by Ewha and followed by over 40 years of history and tradition, the program consists of two sessions: Session I is held over four weeks from the mid-June to July, and Session II is held over two weeks in August.

Participants at the sessions numbered at approximately 500 and 100 students, respectively, and received favorable comments with regards to the Korean language classes with proficiency-based grouping, lectures on various themes, and field trips.

The first session of the 2014 International Co-Ed Summer College ended its four week-program with the closing ceremony held on July 23, and another closing ceremony for the second session is due to be held on August 20.
